About US

Our Story

Our story begins with hope. In 2007, founder of Sunday’s Child Foundation, Lauren Rainier, left the corporate world to begin a new venture here in Hawai’i. Her grandfather, having owned land on Hawai’i Island as early as 1959, when the Hawaiian Islands were granted statehood, spent her childhood visiting the islands. “Hawai’i has always been a place of healing for me,” Lauren has often said. After spending 20 years in film and television and working for Fortune 500 companies, she decided that her next career move would be one of less self-interest, and one that focused upon the care and nurturing of others.

Lauren formed Sunday’s Child Foundation as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2007 to support at-risk youth, and launched her programs in 2008 in Kamuela, on Hawai’i Island. Since inception, Sunday’s Child Foundation has mentored hundreds of children from the islands.

Our goal is to emulate God’s desire for His Children. No child should be raised without love and care. Instilling moral values in our keiki, builds a strong foundation for them to make healthy decisions in their lives. We are here to nurture, support emotionally, and educate our keiki to combat life’s challenges. We are making a great impact on Hawaii’s children and we are grateful for the wonderful support from our island community.

Sunday’s Child Foundation currently serves children 6 to 17 years old. If you would like to support Sunday’s Child Foundation, please send a us a note or you may donate via the link below. Thank you for your support!
